I play with notions of absence and presence, being and place, proximity and distance; a kind of vacant reality yet very physical attachment and possibility. My research explores lens-oriented environments embedded in human interaction. Contemporary technology is here perceived not merely as a tool but as a way of looking at oneself, at culture and at what is valued and found meaningful within the multiple realities that we inhabit.
In my recent paintings, I manipulate imagery digitally, transfer it onto canvas and continue to manipulate it through the process of painting. I explore desires and needs through manipulation of the image bringing disparate and dislocated imagery together.
In the 2013 paintings I focus more on the notion of proximity and
distance by forming a spatial tension. I explore this by bringing distant
places to the same surface to form a new landscape
