My name is Celia Wilson and I am a Canadian-Caribbean artist whose artwork is inspired by the cityscapes of the GTA. I enjoy painting and drawing in a variety of media including acrylic paint, charcoal, pastel and spray paint.
The collection of work explores the concept of a ?Fragmented Habitat of a Cultural Landscape.? The texture of the paintings explore the question of identity in a multi-cultural aspect beyond the stereotypical representations.
It?s understood that the architectural design of human environments can influence mood and behaviour. The interaction between humans and their environment has been a topic of interest and importance to modern civilization, especially with the increased concern surrounding globalization. Our social systems, individual experiences and behaviour are influenced by our natural, our built and our social environment. We are constantly modifying our surroundings and developing new technologies to meet our ever changing needs. How does this constant interchange with our surroundings affect our social behaviour? Ton continue this concept exploration, I incorporate prominent architectural or technological elements into my work. I am interested in the factors the promote or inhibit local social interaction and group formation.
