Having participated in exhibitions and auctions across different cities, Shaheen's diverse artistic talents have appealed to a variety of renowned international collectors and organizations. Much of her commercial and privately commissioned work can be found in Zambia, London, Geneva, New York and Johannesburg among others.
Shaheen's work is influenced by her experiences growing up in Zambia, as well as the guidance she has received from internationally accomplished artists.
During her time at the New York Arts Program and working closely with New
York's Bruce Pearson, Shaheen sees the engagement of colour as an integral
facilitator in her artwork.
Commonly based on photographs during her experiences and travels, Shaheen's ideas and forms are presented in an adventurous manner, with surprising and unusual combinations of forms, techniques and mediums.
After undergoing courses at Central Saint Martins and Sotheby's Institute of Art, her works shows the importance of having formal aspects of art such as line, rhythm and unity, but at the same time portraying the spontaneity and individuality from the process of producing such work.
She predominantly works with
acrylics, but also uses oils, spray paint and mixed media.
